Day Trip to a Volcano

Mt. Aso, Japan's largest active volcano:

Matt with the Hat: かっこいい!

These are in case the volcano erupts:

More useful in case of rain:

阿蘇山

Settling a bet: How many minutes do you think it would take to walk to the top of the little light triangle of grass? "Exactly 5-6 minutes," said Matt.

And he was right. Though Chie took a little longer.

Our lovely walk through Aso Plain was accompanied by Yellow Submarine and Schindler's List from the CD, "Classics on Xylophone" broadcast at high volume from the tourist centre. We had to leave before we got a chance to listen to the theme from the Emprie Strikes Back.
